The sun is shining and the weather is feeling a little summery here in Austin TX, which means our weekly Volunteer Days are starting back up again. It’s a great way to meet new friends, learn some new skills, or work off that mandatory community service (you know who you are!).
This week we are loading up the bus and leaving the Food is Free Urban Farm , 5608 Joe Sayers, 78756, at 10:30 am. We will be arriving at the east side home of Velma Clark, an elderly gardener who is no longer mobile enough to tend conventional in ground gardens. Solution? Raised wicking beds, obviously! 2 large ones to be exact. We will also be doing some weeding and mowing for her, basically a lil backyard makeover. If you can’t make it by bus departure, email us @ foodisfreeproject@gmail.com and we’ll give you the address.
(Of course, some of you gardening aficionados will argue that there are several other solutions to impaired mobility in the garden, such as raised hugelkultur, living walls, etc. but wicking beds are what we do best.)
We may be moving Volunteer Days to Sundays soon, but for now plan on arriving at 10 on Saturday, April 13, 2013 and being back to the farm by 3.
Later for now! New videos should be up in 24 hrs, yo!

Oh, and btw, you are all so AMAZING! The feedback has been absolutely astounding and we have so many folks around the country ready to get local versions of the project цены на кондиционеры в минске started Which means we have our work cut out for us, but we never started this because we thought it would be easy! Thank you so much for giving me hope in our species!
