This weekend we taught a wicking bed garden workshop at 5604 Manor rd, the future hub for Food is Free in East Austin. We put the first garden in on the curb out front and turned lots of heads from passing cars. 5604 Manor is a community center run by Workers Defense ProjectThird Coast Activist Resource Center, and Cooperation Texas.

    Breaking ground on the street

We will be leading free workshops and training, and housing materials for you to take home and make your own wicking bed garden built from salvaged materials. We are really excited to be reaching out to the Hispanic community nearby with the help of our bi-lingual volunteers and collaborating with the interns at the Workers Defense Project.

This will be a great opportunity to really uplift a big food desert and start to transform the community through the connection of local, fresh расчет кондиционера в минске food Our plan is to line the front street with at least 10 wicking bed gardens which includes surrounding the bus stop with fresh produce for anyone to harvest!

We just created a Meetup group, so for those of you in the Austin area, join the online community to stay in the loop of upcoming events and free workshops:
